High Mountain Glacial Watershed Program Imja Lake Video

This beautiful 8-minute film shows the High Mountain Glacial Watershed Program working with Sherpas in the Khumbu region who are trying to adapt to the challenges of climate change. One of the most dramatic immediate examples is the emergence of potentially dangerous glacial lakes. The film follows a team of scientists and engineers in 2012 as they make startling discoveries about Imja lake, which threatens the people who live along the entire Everest trekking route.

A film by Daniel Byers and Skyship Films.

Please note: in 2013 in Huaraz, Peru, the HMGWP changed its name to the High Mountains Adaption Partnership (HiMAP).
